According to Corporate Wellness Magazine, every $1 invested in employee wellness programs yields roughly $4 in savings through reduced sick days, higher productivity and decreased overall health costs.
More and more companies are recognizing the benefits of a wellness program in the workplace. So often employees will go through a full day without leaving their desk, where as many studies show there is a decline in productivity when breaks are not taken. Here’s a fun infographic that nicely sums up some stats on taking breaks and productivity.
Yoga has proven benefits on the physical body, as well as emotional and mental well being. Even a short yoga practice increases mental awareness, reduces stress and gives the body a much needed stretch.
I’ve had the pleasure of teaching a few classes, at offices, during the lunch hour. I truly enjoy the experience of these classes and feel they offer so much to the employees. I have received feedback on how these classes have positively impacted my students, including one student stating she “[considered taking the day off work, but having the class to look forward to motivated me to come in]”. I cannot guarantee the same dedication from all your employees, but I can say that if there is an interest in yoga, offering a class can only bring favourable results.
How it works
I come into the workplace and teach a 45-50 minute class wherever space is available. I’ve taught in company gyms, boardrooms and empty office rooms. The classes are geared at beginner to intermediate students and I very much welcome those who are new to yoga. I do my best to create a safe and welcome atmosphere that’s also fun.
